What is teen coaching and how can it help?

Think for a moment about what a sports coach does for their team; they strive to learn about each of their players, getting to know them and offering them guidance and support so that they can bring out the very best in each team member.

Teen coaching works similarly, but instead of coaching on the sports field, we’re navigating our way through some of life’s trickier moments. Working with your teen, I’ll strive to bring out their very best through structured, supportive conversations and tools that will help them navigate what they’re struggling with.

Coaching is based on the belief that young people are capable of thinking deeply about their own experiences and finding their own solutions when given the right space and support. With skilled guidance, the right questions and a number of tailored tools, coaching aims to help a person make sense of what they’re facing so that they can take empowered action and practical steps forward.

Teenagers are often managing academic pressure, friendship complexities, identity questions, and decisions about their future all at the same time. In coaching sessions, they have a space that is fully focused on them so they can explore these issues with no judgement and no expectation to perform.

Coaching is very much a partnership that looks forward towards solutions, often resulting in a boost in confidence. Your teen will gain the ability to take more ownership in their life.
